Can I do a bike fit with flat pedals and normal shoes?

Start with the shoes and pedals you actually use for commuting or leisure rides.

Yes. You can record an everyday setup with flat pedals and your usual riding shoes. Keep the footwear and foot placement consistent between recordings, and use the basic checks if you do not have a suitable trainer.

Check my everyday riding setup

Sign in, then start with your riding details and equipment.

Record your everyday equipment

You do not need to buy clip-in pedals simply to begin. Note the shoes and pedals you use, whether the bike is shared, and which ride you want to improve. Check that the shoes and pedals are suitable and secure before riding.

If you compare a setup in different shoes, record the change. The contact position may differ, so the two recordings are not identical conditions.

Make repeated observations comparable

Use the same shoes, hand position, camera position and comfortable effort for a before-and-after recording. Note if your feet move around on the pedals. Do not force an unfamiliar foot position just to make a camera measurement look consistent.

A side video cannot show every contact detail between a shoe and pedal. If the footage is unclear or the movement-quality checks fail, improve the recording or use the basic route.

Choose the route that matches your equipment

A riding video requires a compatible trainer set up according to its instructions. Without one, start with bike identity, measurements, mounting and control access. You can save that starting record without creating a pedalling video.

Use the same approach for a modest commuter bike as for an expensive bike: identify it correctly, keep changes within component limits and compare one change at a time.

Keep the result tied to that setup

Save the original record and any footage on the device that recorded it. Note the single change you tested and how a familiar ride felt afterwards. Account saving does not automatically copy your video files.

The result describes the bike, equipment and recording you supplied. It is not a promise that a different shoe, pedal or bike will need the same settings.
